Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa club , which the club managament approved to join the team defender Ahmed Yasser to it , is considered one of the oldest Spanish clubs . It was estabilished in 1923 in Leon city , and is considered the only club that succeded in representing it (La Liga ) in season 1955-1956 .
In 2011 , the club sufferef financial difficulties that made the team leader to announce that all the activities within the club were suspended due to these problems , and the club was relegated to tercera division .
In 2013 , the club was able to return again to the second division B and the Qatari Aspire Academy bought a controlling 99% of the shares of the club , thus avoiding its dissolution and gave its fans a new hope in returning its team again to move forward .
The club had previously participated in the King of Spain championship , but it did not achieve the desired results from it .
